Alvin
and Fanny Blaustein Thalheimer were dedicated civic and charitable
leaders.
Prior to joining the Lord Baltimore Group, Alvin Thalheimer earned
a degree in philosophy, wrote a book entitled "Existential
Metaphysics," and taught at Johns Hopkins University. In addition
to his business interests, Alvin Thalheimer was appointed by the
governor to serve on the State Board of Public Welfare and a commission
to study state government in Annapolis. He was a trustee and President
of the Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore and
a trustee of the Baltimore Hebrew College. Alvin Thalheimer died
in 1965.
Fanny Blaustein Thalheimer attended Barnard College and studied
architecture and interior design at Columbia University. After her
marriage, she continued her art studies at the Maryland Institute
and exhibited her paintings in several shows. She was a trustee
of the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Peabody Institute, Union Memorial
Hospital, and the Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore.
She also served for thirteen years on the Maryland State Board of
Education. Fanny Blaustein Thalheimer died in 1957.
